People think of auto glass as the windshield, and then something happens to a piece they have never had to name before. The small fixed triangle behind the rear door. The vent window in the front corner. The back glass, which on most cars is tempered and carries the defroster grid and sometimes the radio antenna baked into it. Those are the jobs we handle constantly, and they need sourcing rather than guessing, because a quarter glass for one trim level will not sit in the opening of another. Back glass is the messiest of the group. When tempered glass fails it collapses into thousands of blunt cubes that pour into the trunk well, the rear seat rails, the spare tire compartment and the seat belt reels. Fitting the new piece is the quick part. Getting every cube out is what takes the care, and it is the reason we vacuum thoroughly rather than sweeping the obvious pile and calling it done. Most of these jobs finish in under an hour, and you leave with a car you can put a child seat back into without checking with your hand first.

Garage columns are the Parkchester specialty. The ramps and bays inside the development were laid out when cars were narrower and the turning circles were built to match, so the pieces we replace most often from around the Oval are the ones on the corners: a mirror-side vent glass, a rear quarter window caught on concrete while backing out of a tight slot, a door window clipped on the way up a ramp. Nobody enjoys explaining that one, and it does not change the price. The other regular is back glass on cars that live outdoors near the lots, where a rear window is the quietest thing to break. Yes. The grid is printed into the glass itself, so the replacement panel comes with its own, and we reconnect it to the car's tabs during the fit. Same with an antenna element if yours is embedded there. Before you leave we switch the defroster on and check that the lines heat, because finding out in December that they never got connected is not a discovery anyone should be making on their own.
It helps a great deal, particularly with back glass. Anything in the trunk or on the rear seat is going to end up with glass cubes in it, and we would rather you take out the car seat, the stroller and the loose bags than have us work around them. If you cannot clear it, we will move what we must, but the vacuuming afterwards is far more thorough on an empty rear end.
