Calibration costs $150 to $300 above the glass and adds 30 to 60 minutes to a replacement that already takes 60 to 90. If your car has lane keeping, adaptive cruise or automatic braking, the camera behind the windshield has to be re-aimed once the glass moves. We quote both figures on the same call.

The camera sits high on the windshield, tucked into the black band behind the mirror, and it is aimed to a tolerance measured in fractions of a degree. Replace the glass and that aim shifts, because the bracket is bonded to the panel you just removed. A fraction of a degree at the sensor becomes most of a lane width a hundred yards up the road, which is how a lane-keep system ends up nudging you toward the line it was supposed to hold you off. Calibration walks the aim back to the manufacturer's specification and then verifies it.
Which procedure your car needs depends on the make. Some calibrate statically against printed targets set at measured distances on a level floor. Others need a dynamic run at a steady speed on clearly marked road. A few want both, in a specific order. Tell us the year, make and model when you call and we will say which applies and what it costs, in the same breath as the glass price. That is the whole point: $150 to $300 is a real number and it belongs in your decision at the start, not on an invoice you are handed after the car is finished.

Newer cars are common around Parkchester, and so is the assumption that a windshield is a windshield. It has not been for years. If your car was built from about 2018 onward and the dash lights up with lane-departure and forward-collision warnings, the glass job is only two thirds of the work. The practical consequence for you is the shape of the visit. Static calibration needs a level floor, measured distances and controlled space, which no garage bay in a residential development can provide, so that portion is shop work no matter how convenient the van would be. Dynamic runs want clear lane paint at a steady speed, and the roads around Hugh J. Grant Circle are the wrong place to find either at three in the afternoon. Early morning and late evening are genuinely easier, and we are open for both.

Sometimes, and it depends entirely on the vehicle. Dynamic calibrations we can often complete on-site provided there is suitable road nearby to drive afterwards. Static target calibration is not possible at a curb or in a garage bay, because it needs measured distances on level ground. Give us the year, make and model when booking and you will know which one applies before anyone is dispatched.
The systems do not switch themselves off. They keep operating on an aim that no longer matches where the camera is actually pointing, which is worse than having no assistance at all, because you carry on trusting it. Some cars throw a dash warning, plenty do not. We will not release a car that way, and if the budget is tight we would rather talk about the glass choice than skip a safety step.
Tell us the vehicle and the glass that's damaged — you'll see your price instantly, and we'll hold it for you.
