There are two kinds of calibration, and the difference decides where the car has to be. Static calibration uses printed targets set at measured distances on level ground, which means the shop floor. Dynamic calibration is a road drive at a steady speed with a scan tool connected while the camera relearns the lane lines. Some vehicles need one, some need both, and the manufacturer decides that, not us. Either way it adds 30 to 60 minutes after the glass is in, and the windshield still has to serve its safe drive-away time first.

So the drive happens on the Major Deegan or up the Grand Concourse, where the lines are readable and traffic keeps moving, and we time it to miss the worst of the Fordham Road crush. Static work stays indoors on level ground with the targets squared up, which is also why a mobile visit to your block can't always complete a calibration.
